KEEP IT SAXY

Meet Me Where I’m At

Written by Vanessa collier

Standin’ on the corner of Frenchman

Dutchman double dutchin’ on the concrete

The smack of his bubblegum poppin’

The soft pillowy landin’ of his boat-sized feet

Tied pulled loose, shakin’ his caboose

Suit pants rolled up to his thighs

Usually, I’d pass on through

But somethin’ made me wanna ask why

And he said

Ain’t got a care in the world

Don’t gotta change nothin’

Ain’t got a care in the world

Just gotta say something’

Be childlike and free, be kind and just be

Won’t you meet me where I’m at?

Conductor of the train click-clackin’ it’s heels

As it skips through town

He’s a runaway smokestack, billowin’ wisecracks

Engine runnin’ down into the ground

He was punchin’ the ticket of a witty little misfit

Pigtailed girl about three

He was a man on a mission, barely even listenin’

But her voice hung in the air, a honeyed apostrophe

And she said

Ain’t got a care in the world

Don’t gotta change nothin’

Ain’t got a care in the world

Just gotta say something’

Be childlike and free, be kind and just be

Won’t you meet me where I’m at?

Don’t matter where the message comes from

Whether they’re wise and wrickled or naïve and young

All that matters is we’re receptive to the lesson

That life will keep us guessin’

Learn from our failures and our successes

And live like you

Ain’t got a care in the world

Don’t gotta change nothin’

Ain’t got a care in the world

Just gotta say something’

Be childlike and free, be kind and just be

Ain’t got a care in the world

Don’t gotta change nothin’

Ain’t got a care in the world

Just gotta say something’

Be childlike and free, be kind and just be

Won’t you meet me where I’m at?
