KEEP IT SAXY

Two Parts Sugar, One Part Lime

written by vanessa collier

I rolled up to the jukejoint headed straight for the bar

I said hey bartender I need somethin’ strong

Somebody careless has gone and sideswiped my car

You won’t believe the day I’ve had

He said I got somethin’ so good it’ll make the stars realign

But watch out

It’s two parts sugar

And one part lime

Drove my beat up Chevy down to my momma’s house

She was swingin’ on the porch sippin’ her bourbon & stout

I said Momma I’m in a rut can you make your sweet apple pie

She gave me a bear hug, looked me square in the eye

Just hang in there honey here’s the bottom line

Life is two parts sugar

And one part lime

Hopped on the highway home to rest my bones

Radio was singin’ out somebody’s deep baritone

Got some of momma’s pie to brighten my day

Feelin’ better already, bouncin’ back is in my DNA

And if there’s one thing I’ve come to find

I’m two parts sugar

I’m two parts sugar

I’m two parts sugar

And one part lime
