Where does the money go?
Crowdfunding funds will go towards promoting the record and touring expenses. In the record business, they say if you spend $20k making the record, you should spend an equal amount on promotion ($20k). And I want to make a big push with this record because I am very proud of it. It explores retro soul/funk/roots music and in my opinion, it sounds killer. Anything you give will help support this record! So, keep spinning it on your streaming services, help yourself to a vinyl/CD package, buy a concert ticket - heck, buy 5!
It is getting more challenging and costly to do well in the music business. Supporting the artists directly on their websites, at the merch table, and at live shows is the best way to keep your favorite artists working!
The Basics:
This is a different kind of record than you’ve heard from me so far. “Do It My Own Way” as a record, is intended to be a deep dive into a more soulful side of me, to show my vocal explorations, and to show another way to wield the saxophone. It’s a warmer and darker sounding a record, recorded intentionally to reflect a throwback to older school soul, R&B, blues, and to the days of great songs and songwriters, tube amps and analog gear. “Do It My Own Way” takes you back to the heyday of music with soul-influenced horn arrangements, powerful and soul-stirring vocals, layers of background vocals for color, with poignant and emotive saxophone solos that deliver a quietly powerful undercurrent to each song and the album as a whole.
